Southern Tier Residents Warned Not to Relax Pandemic Precautions
In spite of progress in recovering from the end-of-the-year spike in coronavirus cases and a growing number of COVID-19 vaccines being administered in the region, residents are being cautioned that the pandemic is still raging.
Government and Health officials say now is not the time to let up on precautions.
Broome County’s Executive is still in quarantine after being exposed to someone with the virus, Owego’s Town Hall was closed for the day March 18 for professional cleaning due to an internal COVID-19 case and 99 new infections were reported March 17 spread through Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware and Tioga Counties.
Out of the region, but still affecting local sports fans, the Binghamton Devils again postponed their hockey game March 17. This time the COVID protocol issue was for the opposing team.
The Saint Patrick's Day game against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center was sunk due to a COVID concern with the Phantoms. No re-schedule date had been immediately set.
