We love diners. The Southern Tier of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania have many diners to choose from. My wife and I visit a local diner almost every weekend.

Over the past week, I was surprised (through social media), that there are some changes for two diners in the Triple Cities area. One local and one national.

According to a listing on the Jessica Dillenbeck Real Estate LLC Facebook page, the beloved Danny's Diner on Main Street Binghamton is for sale.  According to the post, the owner is looking to retire, (well deserved) and the property, building, and everything in it are for sale.

The listing from Jessica Dillenbeck notes that the building is described as "The Sterling Streamliner Diner Car." For someone who loves feeding the Southern Tier, this may be a great opportunity to keep this local diner alive for decades.

The other surprise I ran across over the weekend, was a notice about the abrupt closing of the Denny's Diner on the Vestal Parkway, Vestal. The post was listed on the Vintage Vestal Facebook Group page, which, by the way, I recommend joining for interesting things about the Vestal area and beyond.

Given its location on a busy road and that it is next to Binghamton University, I would have never thought it would be closed down. A contributor posted a photo of a sign on the front door of the Vestal Denny's that stated the location is now permanently closed.

The sign also notes that patrons can visit their next closest location, which is on Upper Front Street, next to the Northgate Plaza, Binghamton.

I haven't been to the Vestal Denny's in a while, but that location was certainly a go-to place for a late-night meal with my friends and co-workers over the past few decades, especially after a radio station promotion, a fun night at the Eclipse, The Woods nightclub, or after a mobile DJ gig.
