Testing at the Broome County Health Department and New York State sites at the former Davis College and Gannett printing facility in Johnson City were closed on January 17.

Several Southern Tier Counties are delayed in reporting the COVID numbers due to the long holiday weekend. However, Broome County reports 223 new cases and 116 residents hospitalized on January 17.  In his last update, January 14, County Executive Garnar said the number of those hospitalized in Broome County now also reflects residents from other counties who are being treated at Binghamton area hospitals and not just Broome County residents. People from Tioga, Chenango and Susquehanna Counties often are treated in hospitals in Broome County.
