Southern Tier Counties Get Grants for 911 and Emergency Dispatch Support
Broome County is getting over $200,000 in New York State funds to make improvements to its emergency response operations.
Governor Andrew Cuomo this week announced $10-million statewide for upgrades to 911 response and emergency service dispatch operations.
Broome County is getting $210,433. Chenango is getting $188,034, Cortland $188,819, Delaware $142,977, Tioga $129,555 and Tompkins County $131,693.
Cuomo says the annual grant allows for state reimbursement to counties for eligible emergency call-taking and dispatching expenses. The Democrat says all counties in the state and New York City chose to participate this year. The largest award was to Albany County at $236,969.
The money is administered through the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
