Entries are being taken for the latest Binghamton Local Development Corporation and SUNY Broome Entrepreneurial Assistance Program Business Plan Competition.

$5,000 will be awarded for the best plan for developing a business in the City of Binghamton.  Applications are due April 3 and are available on the City’s Economic Development Website.

Entries have to be from entrepreneurs planning to start a business or have an existing business less than five years old in the City.  Applicants must demonstrate the ability to finance and open the business within four months of winning and commit to staying in the City for a minimum of three years.

In addition to the cash award, the winner will get other perks including legal counsel, accounting services, website design, marketing help and memberships in the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce and the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator.

A free workshop for applicants will be held March 27th at the Holiday Inn Arena LaTasse Room from 5 to 8 p.m..  Attendees will get advice from bankers, small business advisers and other entrepreneurs on how to write their business plans and present their ideas.
