Federal Aviation Administration money is coming to the Greater Binghamton Airport to fund reconstruction of airport facilities and improve safety.

U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand last week announced a total of close to $21.2 million in transportation money to go to airports across the Southern Tier, Central New York, the Hudson Valley and North Country.  Some of the funding is from FAA COVID grants through the American Rescue Plan.

Broome is getting $652,000 for general navigational upgrades and to improve a safety area at the air strip.

The Elmira/Corning Airport is getting $874,882 for studies and terminal, apron and building renovations.

Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is getting $1.2 million to rehabilitate and reconfigure taxiways, build a new aircraft rescue and firefighting building and expand the snow removal equipment building.

The Corning-Painted Post Airport is getting $131,363 to rehabilitate a runway.
