Conservative Talk Show host Rush Limbaugh closed his program this (Monday) afternoon by announcing that he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.  Limbaugh, age 69, has been a driving force in talk radio since the 1980's and has been heard on News Radio 1290 WNBF for over 30 years in the Noon-3 PM time slot.

  He is often credited with saving AM radio by attracting a large listener base and becoming a  national media power through his syndicated program aired on the Premier Radio Network.

Limbaugh said he didn't feel right the week of January 12 and felt something was wrong. He said he had shortness of breath as the only sign of a problem. He said a first diagnosis of lung cancer was confirmed by a second source on January 20.

Speaking to his listeners at the end of his program today (Monday) he said he wanted to let people know that there will be days when he will not be hosting his program due to treatment and recovery.  Rush said he will be out at least Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and plans to return on Thursday.
