TUESDAY UPDATE: Union-Endicott High School is closed for a second day as electrical repair work continues.

Original story:

A building-wide power outage gave more than a thousand Endicott school students a three-day weekend.

The problem with the electrical system at Union-Endicott High School was discovered early Monday morning.

School district superintendent Nichole Wolfe said a NYSEG crew traced the trouble to an outdoor power line in front of the building at 1200 East Main Street.

Because the issue did not involve utility equipment, the district contacted a Vestal electrical contractor to investigate the matter and to make necessary emergency repairs.

While students received the day off, about 75 high school teachers were directed to report. Wolfe said they were able to do administrative work at the school district office building west of the high school.

Wolfe said efforts were being made to restore full power to the high school to allow classes to be held on Tuesday.
