Every time I've found myself starting to grumble about all of the ways my life has changed in the last few months, I've had to remind myself that I'm healthy, that I'm still able to go into stores to buy groceries, and that I've been able to see my loved ones, face to face. Many of our local nursing home residents haven't had the pleasure of doing any of those things for months.

Many of our nursing home residents and rehab patients have been on lockdown. They've had to interact with their family on a screen or wave to them from behind the glass windows of their facility. They haven't been able to go outside, to congregate, to do any of the small freedoms that you and I take for granted and I can only imagine how sad they must feel.

If you've got a couple of minutes each week to share some love with local nursing home residents by writing them a card or letter, some of the residents of Absolut Care in Endicott are looking for pen pals. Take a look through the gallery of those wanting to connect with someone and then spread the word to your family and friends. It would be incredible to see each of these people end up with a special pen pal.
