According to WNYT, Nike planned to release sneakers that featured the old U.S. flag with 13 stars in a circle on the heel. Their plans changed after Colin Kaepernick, a former NFL player who endorses Nike, told the company that he found the sneakers to be offensive because the flag dates back to the time of slavery in the United States.

The sneakers were supposed to go on sale this week as part of a 4th of July promotion. The sneaker giant has since told their distributors that the sneakers will not go on sale.

The report also states that Doug Ducey, the governor of Arizona, is asking the State of Arizona to withdrawal all financial investments that they planned to give Nike to relocate to their state.

So how do you feel about Nike's decision?

I personally think they are very cool looking sneakers.
