Police: Man Shot to Death on Binghamton’s West Side
Authorities say a man who was shot on the West Side of Binghamton has died.
The shooting occurred at an apartment complex at 58 Floral Avenue around 11: 20 a.m. Tuesday.
People who live near nearby told WNBF News they heard several shots in rapid succession.
A woman who lives near the 12-unit apartment building said she saw the man who was wounded on the ground in the parking lot for the complex. She said people were performing CPR on him.
The woman said the man appeared to have been wearing blue jeans and white sneakers. She could not estimate his age because of the medics who were surrounding him.
Police were said to be looking for a car that was seen leaving the area of the shooting. The car that was being sought reportedly was stopped by a Pennsylvania State Police trooper on Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County. It was not known whether a suspect had been taken into custody.
The shooting scene is just north of Floral Avenue between Margaret Street and Cleveland Avenue. It's a short distance east of the Johnson City village line.
A section of Floral Avenue near the apartment complex was closed for the police investigation.
