Teams are being signed up for this year’s Binghamton Pond Festival ice hockey weekends.

Adult teams will play for fun and a tournament championship and children will experience outdoor hockey in collaboration with the American Special Hockey Association starting January 12th at Chenango Valley State Park. Activities wrap up January 28th.

Funds raised during the event benefit the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. There is no admission price but an optional ten dollar donation per car is suggested.  In the first two years, the Pond Festival donated 13-thousand dollars to MHAST and their Do It for Darren youth suicide prevention and youth mental health awareness programs

To register go to www.binghamtonpondfest.com. A listing of events and times can also be seen at the website.

Organizers say there will be other non-hockey events as well including live music, fireworks, games, food and drinks.

Chenango Valley State Park has a new refrigerated outdoor ice surface thanks to a New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation grant.
