Disc Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Tioga Ministries
Town of Owego officials are heaping praise on an emerging sport that has settled at the Campville Commons.
Since the construction of a Disc Golf course at the site in 2017, the sport continues to draw players locally and outside of the area.
The Binghamton Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl tournament January 30 brought in players from Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse in New York as well as Scranton and lower Pennsylvania and Connecticut, raising thousands of dollars and 147 pounds of food for the Tioga County Rural Ministry food program.
A check for $3,658 was presented to Rural Ministry in Owego from this year's competition. Last year, the tournament raised $1908.
The Disc Golf Course was developed through a partnership between the Town and Owego residents, Richard Powell and Kevin Vestel.
