The man who operated the Red Robin Diner in Johnson City is cooking once again at his newly-opened eatery.

Jon Bowie has launched the Rockin Robin Diner in Hillcrest and the place is attracting many of those who were regulars at the Red Robin.

The beloved diner in the heart of Johnson City closed last January after Bowie struggled for several months to keep the business running during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bowie, who lives in Kirkwood, said the opportunity to set up shop at 1080 Chenango Street in Hillcrest came up quickly.

The place for years had been home to Laura's Luncheonette. But that restaurant closed following the death of James Gill, who had operated the business with his sister.

Bowie is keeping busy at the Rockin Robin Diner, which opened November 2. The restaurant, which features some of the unique collectables which filled the Red Robin, is open seven days a week.
