New York’s Heroic Firefighters Memorialized
Eleven names are added to New York’s memorial to fallen firefighters during observance of Fire Prevention Week and Firefighter Appreciation Day. The 25th annual New York Firefighters’ Memorial Ceremony was held in Albany on October 11.
The names of 10 men and one woman have been added to the Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The monument recognizes 2,631 individuals from across the state who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
Governor Hochul, during the dedication said: “We will never forget these heroes, and we stand with their grieving loved ones today and every day. New York is a better place because of their service."
In Broome County, the Annual Fallen Firefighters Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Church on Chenango Street.
The names added to the memorial in Albany are:

Meanwhile, in observance of Fire Prevention Week, the Broome County Office of Emergency Services has been posting on social media daily fire prevention and safety information.
