New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is announcing a state limit on mass gatherings, cancelling or postponing events with 500 or more individuals in attendance.

Also, events, gatherings or places of business with less than 500 in attendance will be required to cut capacity by 50 percent with exceptions being made for places where people don’t make sustained close contact like retail stores, grocery stores, schools, hospitals and public buildings, going into effect at 5 p.m. March 13.

The State has added an agreement with private laboratories to expand testing for coronavirus.

The governor, in his latest update March 12, reiterated that the more testing that is done, the more cases will be positively identified.

The Democrat says that is important so those individuals can be found, their scope of contact identified and better efforts made to contain the spread of the disease.
