A hearing about the Heron Campus contamination is planned for 6 p.m. March 19 at the George F. Johnson Library.  The DEC is accepting comments through March 29.

The proposed cleanup addressed contamination on 70 acres located on either side of the railroad corridor in the Village.

A fact sheet on the plan is available on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website: www.dec.ny.gov/about/590.html

A groundwater extraction and treatment system has been in place at the site since 1984 and current plans call for enhancement of that system as well as mitigation of contaminated soils.
