New Life for Binghamton’s Ansco Factory Site

A former film company building in Binghamton is expected to be ready for both residential and business tenants soon.

February 25, Binghamton Mayor Richard David and others toured the former Ansco Camera Factory on the West Side that has been undergoing a $20 million redevelopment.

Matthew Paulus has been working on the transformation of the old factory site on Emma Street that had housed both a camera company and a cigar factory into around 100 loft apartments and 35,000 square feet of commercial space.

E and M Power, Crysta-Lyn Chemical Company and Glowa Manufacturing have already signed onto the commercial portion of the development with the apartments expected to be ready to move in by summer.

Units will range in rent from one-thousand to 17-hundred dollars a month.

Less than a year ago, New York State environmental regulators were still reviewing plans for cleaning up five reported spills at the old factory and adjoining parking lots on the west side of Emma Street.
