Usually my Memorial Day weekends are pretty jam-packed. I'm on the air here on the Whale both Saturday and Monday, and in between I'm doing yard work, having cookouts, and golfing at least once over the weekend.

Every Memorial Day after I get off the air, Chris and I attend the Memorial Day Parade on Washington Avenue in Endicott and we attend the memorial service at Memorial Park across from UE High School in front of the fire station. Neither the parade nor the ceremony will take place this year, due to the Coronavirus.

Being that our Conklin Couples Golf League started a week late this year because of the weather, will be playing on Memorial Day so at least I will get one round of golf in.

Chris and Ian, my stepson, did most, if not all of the weeding and mulching around the house, so I won't have to worry about that this year. I'm sure I'll end up mowing the lawn at some point over the three days.

Another thing we usually do over the Memorial Day weekend is go to the casino. As matter of fact, on Memorial Day probably five years ago or so, I won $1,300 on one spin at Tioga Downs. We won't be able to do that this year either.

If the Rumble Ponies are playing at home over a holiday weekend, we try and go to at least one of the weekend games. Not just for the game, but for the fireworks display afterward. Yet another thing we can't do this year.

I am looking forward to having a fire on the patio either Saturday or Sunday night. I find it very relaxing when we sit around the fire, talking, drinking, and listening to music for hours. Who knows, maybe I'll have a fire on both nights.

Even though I can't attend a parade or ceremony to honor those for whom the holiday was created, I will stop to think of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom a few times over the course of the three days. Maybe I can find a Memorial Day ceremony online.

What ever you do this weekend, I hope you Have a great, safe weekend.
