The National Weather Service in Binghamton is advising that a frontal system is expected to produce showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon August 16 through Friday evening.

Some of the thunderstorms could have locally heavy rainfall. There could be a half inch or a little more of new rainfall through August 17 with the potential for streams and creek levels to rise again.

With already high river and stream levels and heavily saturated ground, there is the possibility of more flash flooding.  Drainage systems and creek banks have been compromised by recent heavy rain and flooding.

People should remain vigilant around waterways.  Remember, a State of Emergency issued by local leaders prohibits recreational use of waterways.

Again, the National Weather Service says thunderstorms Friday through Friday evening may become strong to severe, and also be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall.
