Mispronounced Names In Northeastern Pennsylvania

Eleven years ago, I moved my travel trailer from a campground in New York State to a campground in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Nothing wrong with New York campgrounds, but I had stumbled on this one campground high in the hills of a very small town and fell in love with the setting.

Since then, I've become very aware of the beauty of the Endless Mountain region and Northeastern Pennsylvania as a whole. I pick up signals from television stations in Scranton, Pennsylvania and is the case with every region, the way names of towns, villages, cities, bodies of water among others, are not pronounced exactly as they seem. Some make me wonder why they are pronounced the way they are.
