Did you get your race on this past weekend? NASCAR made it's return to Watkins Glen after missing a year due to the pandemic, and those who love the sport were really excited for the return of the Go Bowling At The Glen NASCAR Race.

Many of us watched the race on television, and many locals made the trek to Watkins Glen to enjoy NASCAR at one of the most challenging tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Not only does the race bring in the best drivers in the country to Watkins Glen, it sometimes also brings in celebrities. And this past weekend was no different. My Twin Tiers in Elmira reported about the appearance of Michael Jordan to NASCAR at The Glen sitting above pit row.

But Michael wasn't really there just as a spectator. He is the owner of one of the racing teams. That team is the 23XI Racing Team which he owns along side Denny Hamlin. The driver of car number 23 is Bubba Wallace, who is currently in the 21st position in the 2021 NASCAR race standings. My Twin Tiers reported that Bubba started the race in the 26th position and ended up 23rd at the finish of the race.

I've attended many races at Watkins Glen, incluidng a couple NASCAR races, but mostly I attended the Formula 1 races in the 1960s and 1970s. They were exciting races, bringing in some of the best race car drivers in the world. I got the chance to see some of the cars up close when my father and I worked at the track. That was an experience I'll never forget.
