You may have heard of Subaru’s Share the Love Event. Every time somebody buys a new Subaru, they get to choose from four charities to receive a $250 donation from Subaru.

According to Subaru.com, besides Meals on Wheels, the other nonprofit organizations that benefit from this event include The National Park Foundation, the ASPCA, and Make A Wish.

Earlier this week, Matthew's Subaru on Old Vestal Road presented Meals on Wheels of Western Broome County with a check for $5,567. According to Matthew's Auto, this is the 11th year that Matthew's Subaru has participated in the Share The Love initiative.

Jackie Pangilinan Executive Director for Meals on Wheels of Western Broome said that the check that they received will provide over 1,100 hot meals to seniors in our need Broome County. Pangilinan said that they are so grateful for their partnership with Matthew's Subaru and the Subaru company. She told me,

Pangilinan told me “Now more than ever, seniors are experiencing increased loneliness and reduced access to food. This is why it's vitally important for our volunteers to make it out to their homes, not only to deliver the meal, but to provide the daily check in they've come to rely on".

She went on to say that Meals on Wheels of Western Broome County is grateful for this annual event, not only for the funds that is raises, but also because it raises awareness of senior hunger and isolation.
