The Maine Black Bears clinched the America East women's basketball regular season championship on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center with a 67-60 victory over the Binghamton Bearcats.  The contest was the final game of the regular season for both teams.  Senior Rebecca Carmody paced the Bearcats with 17 points and 15 rebounds.  It was Senior Day and three Binghamton seniors were honored before the game.  Along with Carmody, Kennedi Thompson and Corinne Godshall were introduced in pregame ceremonies and presented with framed Binghamton Bearcat jerseys.

The Black Bears had four players score in double figures and were led by Bianca Millan with 23 points.  The Black Bears won the regular season championship for the second year in a row, fourth in the last five years and 16th overall.  They finish with a 15-1 America East record and have the number one seed entering the conference tournament that begins on Wednesday night.  Maine will host the number eight seed New Hampshire at 7:00 P.M.

The Bearcats finish in fifth place with a 7-9 America East record.  It is the fourth consecutive season Binghamton has finished in the top five in the conference.  The Bearcats will head to Albany to meet the Great Danes on Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M.  Albany won both games against the Bearcats in two regular season meetings.  Cam Lavallee will be at the SEFCU Arena in Albany to call the action.  Airtime on News Radio 1290 WNBF is 6:45 P.M.
