A year after opening, the largest indoor waterpark is closed indefinitely in New York.

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark in the Catskills had barely been open a year before the coronavirus pandemic hit, forcing the closure of the park for safety concerns, until further notice. "We made the necessary decision to close our doors until such a time it was safe for our associates and guests to return," the company stated.

New York State regulations require attractions/recreation businesses, such as The Kartrite, to remain closed until further guidance is issued. "While we await the required guidance, we have determined the resort will remain closed for an extended period."

Anyone with stays in 2020, will have reservations automatically cancelled and be provided a full refund. Reservations will be held for 2021 but guests who prefer to cancel will receive a full refund. Contact the reservations team by calling 844-527-8748 or emailing info@thekartrite.com.

The 2 acre water park in the Catskills, where it's 84 degrees all year long, has water slides and an indoor beach, where the waves lap at your feet. There are 300 suites in the Catskill Lodge that features a ropes course, arcade, laser tag, virtual reality adventures and climbing wall.

The news comes just days after Water Safari announced they wouldn't be opening for the 2020 season.
