Knicks Look Poised – Doug’s Sports Rap

The 'New Look Knicks' are bringing a new swagger to their game with a win against the Sixers Monday. They remained undefeated in preseason play.

I know most people will say it's only preseason and teams are facing a lot of rookies and free agents, but I like the way this team is playing.

This group of players are quicker, disciplined, and much more focused then I've seen in quite a while. The play of free agent Derrick Williams, who has scored 44 points in just two games, and Knicks rookie Jerian Grant, is quick and breaks down the defense to allow some quick hoops from his team mates.

Carmello Anthony looks very good, he is shooting the ball with confidence and accuracy.

Knicks first round pick Kristaps Porzingis has had some moments with key blocks and shots. Meanwhile, free agent Robin Lopez has been a defensive force in the pain along with a quick and accurate jump shot, and Kyle O'Quinn has played well.

I have watched enough preseason basketball to know that the real test will be in the regular season, which starts in a few weeks. I think Phil Jackson and Coach Derek Fisher will have their guys ready.
