Phil Jackson announced Monday afternoon that Derek Fisher is out as head coach of the New York Knicks, the team has lost 5 straight and 9 of their last 10 games.

Kurt Rambis will take over the duties as interim head coach.

I had high hopes for this team going into this season with the number four pick in the draft, Carmello Anthony coming back healthy, and new acquisitions Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo.

More than halfway though the season the team looks a lot like they did last year, and the opponents are going after them with little or no respect.

Phil Jackson made a statement with the firing, he will not accept this type of performance from his players or coaches.

I don't think this roster will win a championship, but they should be good enough to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

I also feel bad for Carmello Anthony, he was kind of dooped into signing a big contract with this team, I don't think he will ever get a ring with this franchise with the amount of time he has left in his career.

My hopes is that the team will trade Mello to a play off contender, and maybe he can get a ring before he retires.

The Knicks will try to get a win before the all star break as they hosts the Wizzards tonight.

Go Knicks!
