A 46-year-old Broome County resident has been of three felony counts in connection with acts involving a young girl over a lengthy period.

According to the district attorney's office, Larry Harris of Johnson City was found guilty Wednesday of third-degree rape and two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child.

Judge Joseph Cawley announced his verdict following a two-day trial.

Prosecutors said Harris committed the acts beginning in 2013. The abuse of the child continued through 2018.

Last May, Harris was found guilty of manslaughter by a Broome County court jury. That case involved the February 2019 death of 11-year-old Jerome Smith.

Because of his violent felony history, Harris faces 25 years to life in prison in connection with the latest verdict. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
