Jim Weed Departs Rumble Ponies

Binghamton Rumble Ponies General Manager Jim Weed has resigned from his position with the New York Mets' Eastern League affiliate.  Weed has served as the team's general manger since 2010. Weed plans to spend more time with his three young children and family. In a press release from the Rumble Ponies Team President and Owner John Hughes stated "Jim Weed made immeasurable  contributions to the team over the years.  I stand by and support his decision.  Family comes first and this was a decision made for family reasons."

Weed spent 21 years working with the ball club. He started out in 1996 as a ticket intern.  From 1997-2004 he served as Director of Ticket Operations.  From 2005 - 2009 he was the team's Assistant General Manager/Director of Food and Beverage.  In 2010 he took over as Binghamton's General Manager.  His is a text book case of growing within an organization. Weed was named the New York Mets Minor League Executive of the Year in 2011.

Weed, a graduate of Cortland State University, has taken a marketing position with Tioga Downs.  Weed was popular among the advertisers and business community who dealt with the team as well as the fans.  He would spend most of each game not only watching over and supervising the stadium promotions and operations but also talking with fans in attendance.  His goal was to make sure their experience was the best it could be while at NYSEG Stadium. Under his guidance hundreds of charities and non-profit agencies have been able hold to fund-raising activities before and during Binghamton home games.

According to information in the press release (binghamtonrumbleponies.com) the Rumble Ponies' general manager position will remain open through the end of this season.  Assistant General Manger John Bayne will oversee business operations and Sports Turf Manager Tyler Jennings will be in charge of baseball operations.
