Jim Boeheim, Syracuse Coach Hits and Kills Man Walking on I-690

There is breaking news out of Syracuse this morning involving Syracuse Orange Basketball coach Jim Boeheim.

According to Syracuse.com, the coach was driving on Interstate 690 around midnight when he struck and killed a man walking outside his vehicle.

The victim, George Jimenez, 51, had been in a car accident on the highway where authorities told Syracuse.com their vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The four occupants of the car exited the vehicle and started to walk on the highway.

According to the report, an oncoming vehicle avoided hitting the disabled car in the middle of the road. Then a second vehicle, Boeheim's car, struck Jimenez as he stood on the side of the road.

According to Syracuse.com, no traffic tickets were issued. A field sobriety test was issued at the scene. Those tests were negative for any signs of impairment.
