Broome County Executive Jason Garner's Office announced that the 2025 Broome County Budget was approved on Thursday, November 7th.

2025 will be the sixth consecutive year in which Broome County residents will see their taxes go down, according to the County Executive's Office. The approved budget will also include significant workforce investments, substantial infrastructure upgrades, and expanded support for economic development, housing, and public safety.

The property tax rate reduction for Broome County residents in 2025 will be 0.3%, a 24% total reduction since 2018, despite inflation increasing over 25% over that period.

Other items in the budget include $3.9 million to upgrade 271 positions, supporting a fair and competitive wage structure for county employees, and $5 million to a new Economic Development and Housing Fund, which aims to bolster housing projects and encourage long-term growth across the county.

According to the Broome County Executive's Office, the 2025 budget includes $2 million to support law enforcement, including new emergency response vehicles, programs dedicated to local veterans continuing to receive essential funding to support their well-being and community engagement, and $500,000 allocated for supporting community projects, enhancing public safety, infrastructure, and recreational spaces across Broome County.

The  Broome County Executive's Office notes that the budget for 2025 underscores Broome County’s ongoing commitment to economic resilience, infrastructure development, and fiscal responsibility while addressing immediate challenges and investing in future opportunities.
