February is here and we are one month closer to Spring and Summer. With some luck from the groundhog, the warmer weather will be here sooner rather then later. Before you know it, we'll be turning our attention to outdoor fun and sun in the Southern Tier.

There is so much to do in our area and one of the best places to enjoy the great outdoors is the Broome County Parks. Admission is always free except for special events like Spiediefest. I personally enjoy going to Otsiningo Park for the Broome Bands Together Summer concert series.

While we wait for the weather to get warmer, we can enjoy the Broome County Parks 3rd Annual Winterfest at Nathaniel Cole Park on Saturday, February 25th from 12 to 3 p.m. This free event will include a fishing derby (free registration), sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing, and more.

Broome County Parks Looking For Concession Vendors

Speaking of Nathaniel Cole Park, they and Greenwood Park are looking for qualified vendors for concessions for the upcoming summer season. The Broome County Parks Department is hoping that someone local will have lunch and dinner options that includes burgers, hot dogs and spiedies.

Don't delay if your interested because you only have until Friday, February 10th to apply. Go here to get your questions answered and to submit your application. Broome County Parks would like it, if you are interested in both locations but one is better then none. You can also call (607) 778-2193.
