It’s 4-20 Day!

Today is April 20th, also known as 4-20. It's the day that "Stoners" celebrate as "Marijuana Day".

I'm sure there are some hardcore potheads who take the day off and smoke themselves silly while others might just wait until they are done with work.

Did you ever wonder where the whole 4-20 thing came from? I did some research and this is what I found.. According to Hightimes.com the original term had nothing to do with a police code which is what most people thought. It had to do with the Waldos. It was a group of San Rafael High School students that would get high next to a wall at their school. They were the first ones to coin the 4-20 phrase. I'm still not sure if that was the exact time they met, but I would bet that is the case.

Since then, Deadheads and potheads have celebrated 4-20. Even by saying lines like it's 4:19, I've got a minute. From time to time you see people place bids of 420 on the Price Is Right. I've even seen people with a pot leaf tattoo that said 420 under it.

Right now, smoking marijuana is still illegal unless it's for medical reasons and you have a prescription. But I wonder how much longer that will be. It seams the states that have made it legal to partake in the drug are making a good amount of money in taxing it.

I guess time will tell.
