It Looks Like Tim Tebow Will Return To the Syracuse Mets This Summer

Even though he hasn't played baseball and over a year-and-a-half, according to Syracuse.com, there is a good chance that Tim Tebow will be a member of the Syracuse Mets again this summer.

Tebow won the Heisman Trophy as the quarterback for the Florida Gators in college. After he graduated, he played a couple of seasons in the NFL. Since then, Tim has tried to follow his dream as a Major League Baseball player.

He started to pursue that dream with the Mets organization in the Single A, and spent one season in Binghamton in 2018. That season ended for Tim after he broke his hand midway through the campaign. The following year he got promoted to AAA ball and was playing up in Syracuse during the inaugural season of the Syracuse Mets. Just like the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Syracuse Mets didn't play any games last year either because the Coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of their entire season.

There are still a lot of Tim Tebow fans in Binghamton. When Tim was playing here, restaurants were creating dishes and burgers and naming them after him. People would lineup along the first base line prior to Rumble Ponies games at NYSEG Stadium to get his autograph or a photo with him. A lot of Binghamton Rumble Ponies fans were saddened to hear that he was going to play in Syracuse rather than Binghamton, but understood it was a huge step up in his baseball career.

According to Syracuse.com, the New York Mets indicated the Tim Tebow will play for their organization in 2021, so he will probably report to Syracuse. If the Coronavirus pandemic is under control by next summer, it would definitely be worth the trip to Syracuse to see Tim in action once again, along with the other future stars of the New York Mets.
