The Holiday Season Is Here – Let’s Not Forget Thanksgiving

Now that the over two-month celebration of Halloween is done (whew! that was a long time) many people and most businesses have set their sites on the holiday season for the next several weeks. Well, some began weeks ago.

But as we do whatever we do during the holiday season, it seems that the Thanksgiving holiday seems to take a back seat. Or at least that's how I see it. And that's not right. I know a few people who claim Thanksgiving as their favorite holiday of the year.

First and foremost, it's a day to be thankful for so many things in our lives.  Thanksgiving dates back to 1621 when the colonists and the Wampanoag joined together for an autumn harvest feast.

Aside from being thankful, I look forward to a day with family, watching the parade,  maybe watching a football game, and the best part of it all, the food. I am fortunate that I have a wife and family who know how to cook. If it were left up to me to provide a meal for Thanksgiving, we'd be eating one of those frozen meals.

And speaking of Thanksgiving, the NBC New York website has listed some of the acts to look forward to as you are enjoying the day and watching the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Some of the highlights of the parade will include a new Stuart the Minion balloon, which will be three stories tall, along with Jimmy Fallon & The Roots. This is the 96th year of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

NBC New York reports that the parade will have "6 giant character balloons, 28 floats, 40 novelty and heritage inflatables, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns, 10 performance groups, and, of course, Santa Claus."

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, and then on Friday, it's full steam ahead for the next holiday.
