Happy National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day
Yep, there's a day for that too. According to the National Day Calendar, December 20th is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
According to their website:
"Since 2011, National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day has grown to be an international event. Now occurring on the third Friday of December, the celebration gives holiday lovers worldwide a chance to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters."
As a matter of fact, we had our annual office party today which included an ugly Christmas sweater contest. The contest awarded first, second and third place, featuring a trophy for first place, medallion for second and gift card for third. The Whale's Kat, won first place with her really ugly sweater.
I imagine we are not the only workplace that encourages employees to come to work dressed in their ugly Christmas sweater best.
Today is also National Underdog Day and National Mudd Day. Apparently Mudd Day refers to today being the birthdate of Dr. Samuel Mudd. His last name is famous for the term being "dragged through the mud."
So whether you are sporting that ugly Christmas sweater, being celebrated as the underdog for whatever reason or being dragged through the mud, I wish you a happy Friday!
