Four Of America’s Best Coziest Towns Are Near Binghamton, New York
Is it just me, or did we go from hot, humid summer temperatures to late October temperatures in a snap? I was hoping for an early Autumn with temperatures hovering around 70 with low humidity to enjoy before old man winter crashes through the door for several months.
That being said (or written as is the case here), the winter season certainly lessens the number of things to do out of doors. Of course, there are still things to enjoy, like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snowmobiling for example.
But, how does our part of the country compare with other areas of the United States in terms of being a place for a winter weekend escape? The website My Dating Advisor has the answer with their article '170 Coziest Small Towns In America.'
COOPERSTOWN, NY
Four small towns not far from the Binghamton area made the list. Those towns are Cooperstown, New York, Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, and Skaneateles, New York.
HONESDALE, PA
The criteria My Dating Advisor used to determine this list of America's best coziest towns include weather, food, and activities. Categories within each of those are assigned points that add up to an overall score. For example, points for weather are determined by the average temperature in December, the length of the winter season, average snowfall in December, and days below 32 degrees.
JIM THORPE, PA
The highest possible score achieved is 100. Cooperstown came in 25th on the list with 69 points, Honesdale lands at #40 with 63 points, Jim Thorpe is #53 on the list with 60 points and Skaneateles with 51 points, came in at #91 on the list of 170 towns.
