As I stepped into the Hillcrest RV camper Wednesday afternoon, my first thought was "Wow!" In the last 17 years of doing this amazing food drive for Broome County CHOW, I don't remember this much food being collected in such a short time.

Obviously many in our area have been stopping by our setup in the Weis Food Market parking lot on Upper Front Street, Binghamton and donating non-perishable foods to help families in Broome County.

A big THANK YOU is in order to those who have stopped by so far. I think the grocery cart challenge has been a big factor, especially since many have come by with a cart full of food, challenged another business or friends and families, and then those challenged have delivered.

I must stress that we don't look differently at a person who only donated one item versus someone who brings in many items. We are happy just the same no matter what you can afford to do.

So, the facts remain - stop by and drop off any non-perishable food item(s) you can. We are in the camper through Friday from 6am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 8pm, and Monday November 6th from 6 to 10am. We also have CHOW barrels outside the camper to drop off food if you are in a rush or it's after hours. We also put a barrel at Gary's U-Pull It on Colesville Road, Binghamton if that's closer for you.

If you are not sure what we need food-wise, we have a list in the camper and can give you some ideas, but we would really love the company if you can stop in and see how Food-A-Bago is progressing, and again, thank you for helping families in Broome County. The need does not end.
