Fire crews from Owego, Apalachin and Campville spent the early morning hours of December 14 working at the scene of a large fire at the Weitsman's recycling facility on Main Street in Owego.

According to information posted on the Owego Fire Department social media, the fire was reported at around 1:45 a.m. December 14.

The report indicated a large pile of cars on fire.

Tioga County Emergency Services at 4 a.m. cautioned that the roads were closed around the area of the fire scene, specifically from Academy Street to Route 17C.  The roads around the fire scene have since reopened.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
