Fire Destroys Newark Valley Barn

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn in Tioga County overnight August 29.

Firefighters from Newark Valley, Campville, West Corners and Berkshire responded to the blaze on Whig Street in Newark Valley at around 10 last night and remained on the scene for several hours.

There were no reported injuries as heat from the barn fire damaged a nearby home.

Neighbors reported hearing explosions and officials indicated there had been tanks holding flammable gas on the property.
