Fall officially arrived at 3:50 this morning. That makes me happy because it's one of my favorite times of year, not just because of the leaves changing or the fresh crisp air, nor is it because of all the fall treats or Halloween parties. It's because I am a huge sports fan and there is so much going on in the world of sports in the fall.

I don't follow baseball as much as I did years ago, but the baseball playoffs are right around the corner which is always exciting. If you're into NASCAR, the NASCAR playoffs are in full swing.

Professional football is heading into week number four and college football is heading into week five, or is it six? You have high school football in full swing throughout the Southern tier and hockey preseason has already started.

For years I would say my favorite sports in order were football followed by hockey, but after some of the calls that missed this past Sunday in the NFL, hockey might be taking over the top slot.

I'm looking forward to the NHL season. I am a Philadelphia Flyers  fan, and as long as the team can stay healthy, they should be competitive.

I'm also looking forward to the start of the AHL season. The Binghamton Devils have preseason games this weekend, including two at home on Saturday and Sunday. The Binghamton Devils' season will officially begin next Saturday October 5th. at the Floyd L Maine's Veterans Memorial Arena, as they host the Utica Comets.

With the start of hockey season next week, that means the NBA and college basketball will be starting up soon as well.

If you are a sports fan, rejoice, fall is finally here.
