A man has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident at an apartment  building on Washington Avenue in Endicott.

Authorities say 31-year-old Zachary Fellows of Endicott has been charged with second-degree assault.

According to village police, Fellows is suspected of shooting another man in the hallway of 25 Washington Avenue on the afternoon of August 27.

Investigators say the incident occurred during an argument involving the two men, who police say are acquaintances..

Both men had fled the scene of the shooting by the time police officers arrived. The injured man, whose name was not released, reportedly sustained a shoulder wound. Police say he was struck by a round of birdshot and did not seek medical attention.

Fellows was expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon at Broome County Jail.
