Easter at the Free’s House
Easter is this Sunday. And being a Roman Catholic, it is a huge day for us. After 40 days of Lent, and all of the activities of Holy Week this week, Easter is a day for celebration.
We went to church services Thursday night, we are going again Friday afternoon, and we will be there Saturday night too. Sunday morning we will head to my sister's house for our annual Easter dinner.
Chris and I have hosted the family Easter dinner a couple of times in the past, but for the most part, my sister Gert holds Easter at her house which was my mother's house, and my grandmother's house before that.
Most of the family converges on the house for dinner. There is always a huge spread of ham, kielbasa, scalloped potatoes, halupki, and a couple of different vegetables. Not to mention three or four different desserts to choose from. And as much as I'm looking forward to the meal, I'm even more excited about what happens after the meal.
After dinner, we all sit around and talk while we play card games or board games. We all end up laughing so hard that our sides hurt.
Easter is one of my favorite holidays because of both the religious aspect and the time I get to spend with my family.
I hope you have an awesome Easter as well.
