Construction crews are working on the final phase of a $10 million housing project in the village of Endicott.

The first residents of Skye View Heights moved into their homes in early 2016.

Property manager Carin Criscitello said 44 people now live in the 35 units that were built as part of the first two phases of the project.

Criscitello said 17 units were built as part of Phase One along East Franklin Street and 18 units were constructed for Phase Two off Groats Street.

The third phase calls for 20 units to be built east of Overton Street. That work is now underway.

The units are being marketed to people over the age of 55 who are looking to downsize.

Criscitello said while many of those who have moved into Skye View Heights units have lived in the area, some are returning from out of state. She said people have moved back to Broome County after living in Michigan, Wisconsin and Texas to be closer to their families.

Construction work on the last phase of the project is expected to be completed around the end of the year.

Endicott Mayor John Bertoni said "everybody seems to be happy" with the new development. He said "it's a wonderful project."

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency in 2015 approved a tax break package for the Sky View Heights project.
