Wouldn't it be great if there were a way for Broome County residents to continue to live independently as they age? Thanks to Faith in Action there is.

Faith in Action has been actively involved in the lives of Broome County residents age 60 and older for 25 years, providing these people the support and companionship that they might not otherwise receive because their family and friends are unable to give it.

Volunteers with Faith in Action serve in several different ways such as by placing reassurance calls or providing transportation to medical appointments. Faith in Action also assists with grocery shopping, makes visits to local senior centers and living facilities to provide fresh, healthy and ingredients to seniors, and even helps individuals who are home-bound by constructing wheelchair ramps.

On average, Faith in Action volunteers travel 13,000 miles each year to help the older residents of our community. They go on an average of 1,500 shopping trips each year, build about 15 wheelchair ramps each year, provide an average of 1.400 meals, and offer 200 worship services.

Nurturing the mind, body, and soul of Broome County residents age 60 and older is of utmost importance to Faith in Action, but in order to be able to provide residents these services, Faith in Action relies on monetary donations and fundraisers.

Faith in Action is pleased to announce that their biggest fundraiser, Dining for Dollars, is back this year. At Dining for Dollars, you will enjoy a delicious meal served by community figures while enjoying lovely musical entertainment.

Faith in Action's Dining for Dollars will be held on Thursday, October 7 at The Riverdale Banquet Hall on Watson Boulevard in Endwell. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a cash bar social hour. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the plated dinner includes salad, pasta, chicken, vegetables, potato, and dessert. Rick Pedro will provide musical entertainment.
