Cortland County Woman Sentenced to Federal Prison for Sexually Exploiting 3-Year-Old
A woman from Cortland County will spend close to 16 years in federal prison for her part in repeatedly sexually exploiting a toddler.
27-year-old Brittany Berry of Marathon had admitted conspiring with 28-year-old Lawrence Berry in the abuse of a three-year-old child five times in August and September of 2018.
Federal Prosecutors say Brittany, at Lawrence's direction, took photos as well as recorded and live images of the child which she sent to Lawrence over the internet.
The woman pleaded guilty in October of 2019 while her husband pleaded guilty in August of this year and sentenced in November to 30 years in prison.
Brittany Berry was sentenced in Federal Court December 21 to 190 months in prison to be followed by 15 years post-release supervision. She will also be required to register as a sex offender in any state where she lives, is employed or is a student.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the City of Cortland Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Gadarian and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian LaRochelle as part of the Safe Childhood project.
