Officials say 24-year-old Ronnick Richardson of Brooklyn and 27-year-old Jason Hudson of Cortland are both charged with felony assault while Hudson is additionally charged with felony attempted assault and felony criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities say at around 8 a.m. October 15, two inmates began to fight. As Corrections Officers separated them, two officers and one of the inmates suffered injuries.

Officers say they also found an item provided to inmates in the facility that was fashioned into a “shank” or weapon that Hudson allegedly attempted to use against Richardson.

Both men remain at the Cortland County Jail.
