Christmas Specials
Last night, CBS aired Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at 8 pm. I was having flashbacks to when I was a kid. When you think back we didn't have VCRs back then let alone DVD players. If you missed the one and only airing of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you missed it. That was it. You had to hope to catch it next year. Nowadays, it's available on DVD, and you can watch it on demand online pretty much any day of the year.
I remember as a child, we would go to school and we would make sure all our friends knew when the specials were going to be on. And it seemed like, the closer it got to Christmas, the more specials would air. It felt like there was a Christmas special on every night.
Besides Rudolph, I would look forward to watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and The Year Without a Santa Claus. The Year Without a Santa Claus was one of my favorites because of the songs that featured the feuding Brothers Snow Miser and Heat Miser. All the kids at school would be singing those two songs the following day. Then there were other holiday specials like Jack Frost, Twas the Night Before Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, and even How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I would see when they were going to be on and watch them if there was nothing else to watch on TV.
Still, to this day, the Grinch is my least favorite of them all. What are your favorites and least favorites?
