May 1st is my favorite day of the year. No, not because it's May Day. It's the day my campground opens up. After 6 months of off-season, cabin fever sets in, so getting back to camping makes me a very happy person.

Sunday, I headed south to the campground with my van full of crap to bring back to the camper. I don't think there was any room left to put stuff in the van. The closer I got, the more excited I was. Sometimes it's the journey, not the destination that's the most fun. Yea, not in this case for me.

After arriving,I have a certain schedule of things to do, like hooking up the utilities, opening up the camper slides, and then the huge task of unloading the van and putting everything in place inside and outside my camper.

There's also the task of checking for water leaks and rodent damage. I winterize my camper every year, so the pipes are safe from cracking, and do my best to cover up every opening to keep rodents (mice) from entering and causing havoc. I thought that was a success until I took the top off a tall trash can and discovered two deceased mice. They got in, but couldn't get out. It's amazing how they can squeeze themselves in, and I have no idea where.

I spent all day Sunday and part of Monday getting all back in order, but more needs to be done, since I had to take some beverage breaks, if you know what I mean. Both days, Mother Nature was not kind, with cool temperatures and lots of rain, but that's okay, since I've got six months to get it all in order before taking everything back home. Happy camping 2016!
