The Greater Binghamton area is home to many great sports stories. Whether they are from the local leagues to the high school level, college, or professional sports, there's always something exciting to watch year-round.

Remember the first Binghamton Mets season when they won the AA Eastern League championship in 1992 during their inaugural season and again in 1994? How about when the Binghamton Senators won the Calder Cup in 2011?

How about the Maine-Endwell Little Leauge team winning the Little Leauge World Series in Williamsport in 2016? And do you remember when the Binghamton University Men's Basketball team won the American East Championship in 2009 and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament? How exciting was that?

Win or lose, it's always an exciting thing to watch our local sports teams battle it out against their opponents. And now, there's another exciting sporting event happening on Friday (June 3rd.)

The second-seeded Binghamton University's Men's Baseball Team won the America East championship on Saturday (May 28th)  in Orono, Maine, over the University of Massachusetts Lowell, by a score of 7 to 1. According to the Binghamton University website, it was the program's fifth America East crown. The other championship years were 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2016.

And on Friday (6/3) the team will travel to Stanford, California to play in the NCAA Men's Baseball Regional Tournament with a 4 pm (EDT) game at Sunken Diamond against the number 2 seed, Stanford. The Binghamton University website notes that the men's baseball team will play at least two games against nationally-ranked opponents and that they haven't faced any of the potential regional opponents in the team's 22-year Division I history.
